Beginning in the back of the nightclub Lotus in NYC's Meatpacking District, HSKFF gained a cult following as it moved to Comix, a residency at Ars Nova, and The Zipper Factory. With a sponsorship by The Onion, the show has featured many pundits, activists, writers, and musicians, ranging from Rachel Maddow, Amy Goodman, Mo Rocca, Willie Geist, Paul Rieckhoff, Lizz Winstead, Hunter Bell, Rachel Sklar, Michael Musto, Lady Rizo, Patty Dukes, Rephstar, and Jamie Kilstein, among others.
